Counseling

If you’re ready to end the cycle of stress and anxiety in your life then you’ve come to the right place.

I work with many individuals who are challenged by stress, anxiety, AD/HD, relationship issues, career challenges, phobias, low-self esteem, health challenges, weight issues, sleep issues and PTSD.

Approach

I am a Board Certified Psychoneurologist and use a “whole-person” approach so that clients achieve the results they desire. I believe that true and long-lasting change and healing occur when we integrate the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. I center counseling on creating a safe environment where clients experience heart-centered healing.

I primarily work with helping my clients by guiding them to gain insights into the presenting issues through discovering underlying patterns and behaviors and then finding a deeper truth. Next I help the client create new resources (mind/brain neuropathways) and daily rituals which are essential in creating positive and lasting change.

My approach is to help clients create a deeper understanding of how their conscious, unconscious and superconscious mind works. I then use and teach tools that support a deeper understanding so that they can move their life in a positive direction with a greater sense of balance.

I help a client determine their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual goals and support them in achieving these goals.

My belief is that you are already perfect and whole. If you want to live in greater peace, joy, abundance, perfect health and freedom to realize all of life’s possibilities on a daily basis you must take steps to take you there… sometimes you may just need a little help to take you back to the perfection of who you are.

An Explanation of the Psychoneurology Approach:

Psychoneurology’s approach to creating wellness and thriving does not require a diagnosis or labeling of the client. Since its underlying premise is that each individual is already perfect and whole as opposed to broken or diseased. Rather than trying to focus on fixing a broken person, psychoneurology helps the client develop new resources or learnings that will help enhance their lives in the service of reaching the highest level of thriving. Psychoneurology is based on a four-step model:

  • Step 1: determining what you want to create or experience (the objective) and is known as the pre-frame.
  • Step 2: determining where you are now. This step is called calibration.
  • Step 3: determining the resource to get you there– also called identifying the resource.
  • Step 4: is finally using that resource so it can become a part of you– this is called integration.

The Fundamental Distinctions Between Psychoneurology and Other Mental Health Approaches

The pathology driven approach will strive to identify and label or diagnose the “problem” at hand. The therapist’s focus is upon the particular disease or disorder and trying to eliminate it or at least its symptoms. This approach to change was based on the premise that the reason why the client is not where they want to be (the desired state or outcome) is because of the challenges or “blocks”. Most therapists (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, MFT’s, and even most life coaches) concentrate on eradicating these blocks (disease, disorder or problem) to the desired result, with the implication being that if the blocks are removed, the desired results or state will be achieved. The take is that the only reason you’re not where you want to be is because of the blocks that are holding you back.

By contrast, the psychoneurologist helps their client gain access to the resource or learning that will make the entire label of disease irrelevant. Instead of categorizing a person with a disease or disorder, psychoneurology determines just what the needs of the individual are in order to help succeed or thrive. Psychoneurology is an introduction of a new set of processes where we actually educate the client either consciously or unconsciously to be able to use their brain and nervous system much more effectively so that they can create completely new results. This is a radical new innovation, applying leading edge technology to ancient wisdom.

What is Integrative Healing?

Integrative healing is about seeing the person/client as already “whole” and helping them to come back into balance from a place of “imbalance.” In my practice, I may “prescribe” exercise regimens, healthy eating suggestions or refer clients to other health practitioners (e.g. cranial sacral workers, doctors, chiropractors etc.) when appropriate. Integrative healing is a holistic approach that supports the body, mind and spirit so that the client has the best outcomes possible.
