It is loosely based on the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Ephraim Diverol, who received a three hundred million dollar contract from the Pentagon to arm American allies in Afghanistan.

Stephen Chin (screenplay), Todd Phillips (screenplay) In 2005, David Packouz lived in Miami, Florida, worked as a massage therapist and lived with his girlfriend Iza. Wanting additional sources of income, David spent his savings on high-quality Egyptian cotton sheets, planning to sell them to a nursing home in Miami, but those efforts failed. At a friend’s funeral, David Ephraim met his friend at Diveroli High School, who moved to Los Angeles a few years before working with his uncle in arms sales. Ephraim left his uncle and founded his own company, AEY, which fulfills orders for weapons ordered by the US government during the ongoing war in Iraq. David’s life changed again when his girlfriend announced that she was pregnant. Ephraim offered him a job at AEY, and although both David and Iz opposed the war, David eventually agreed to tell his girlfriend that he had begun selling his cotton sheets to the U.S. government through Ephraim’s contacts.
